C-MEM MBR Ultrafiltration for Wastewater

Our patented and innovative C-MEM ultrafiltration technology in our automated MBR systems (Membrane bioreactor - a combination of biological treatment with membrane filtration) are much more compact than traditional solutions requiring less space, smaller tank volumes and providing higher quality of treated water. As a result, a higher cost benefit for our customers can be achieved as they can reuse this water in their production processes.

Innovative Technology

C-MEM is an innovative ultrafiltration technology using organic hollow fibers, with 0.02 μm micropores. It eliminates more than 99.99% of all bacteria and viruses during the filtration process. The membrane fibers are integrated into a C-MEM cartridge that protects them from mechanical stress and optimizes cleaning and maintenance. The C-MEM cartridges can be combined in modules allowing the treatment of any water flow regardless of its volume.

Simple and robust process

C-MEM cartridges are fully submerged in water and operate in a dead-end filtration mode. Raw water is filtered from the outside to the inside of the fiber. A filtration pump draws the treated water from the top of the cartridge using negative pressure. Once a certain time or pressure is reached, the system initiates an automatic and innovative backwashing process. The backwashing process lasts only some seconds and is a combination of reversed flow of treated water and air scouring.

Our C-MEM Membrane is one of the most compact and energy-efficient ultrafiltration  technology in the world.

Designed as a Bioreactor

In wastewater treatment the C-MEM technology is applied as an MBR (Membrane Bioreactor). Wastewater is pre-treated biologically in a bioreactor and then filtered by negative pressure through the micropores of the membrane fibers. The nano-sized pores do not allow the passage of activated sludge or other suspended solids, viruses and bacteria, hence produces clear and particle free effluent.

50% less space

Its compact size reduces plant space requirements by at least 50% and achieves a much better effluent quality compared to conventional wastewater treatment reducing infrastructure costs.

Virus and Bacteria Removal

The average pore size of the filter is 0.02μm. It allows complete removal of viruses and bacteria and not only their inactivation.

Low operating cost

The cyclic cleaning process lasts only 15 to 30 seconds every 5 to 10 minutes filtration, reducing the energy costs of the process. It only requires a minimum amount of chemical cleaning chemicals thanks to its fully automated backwash cycle.

Modular and adaptable

C-MEM allows you to easily scale the capacity of your water treatment plants depending on your project. It can also be installed in existing bioreactors improving your current infrastructure.
